This place is amazing and authentic! I have been here multiple times and I cannot get enough of this place! The first time I came here I ordered the grilled salmon. It was a large portion and came with 3 sides for a very reasonable price! My friend ordered the snapper and they brought out the whole fish! Both of our dishes tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. The following times I ordered mofongo with grilled chicken. Again, very big portion for a great price. I absolutely loved the mofongo, although I do think it has a unique taste that not everyone will enjoy. The place never seems extremely busy and does not have the warmest atmosphere, but the wait staff makes up for it as they are very friendly and attentive!

I've been here a couple of times and on those occasions have found their Latin foods generously served in large portions, properly prepared and about as authentic as it gets. During my last visit I primarily went for their mofongo as I had heard it to be the best monfongo around. In reviewing the menu, I was delighted to see that their mofongo came not only plain or solo, but also in a variety of 9 different accompanying dishes. My waitress recommended either the monfongo with shrimp, garlic enchiladas or with a skirt steak churrasco which ended up being my pick. When it was served the portion was well presented and huge in size, especially considering it to be priced at a mere $15.95. The skirt came perfectly as ordered, rare, with plenty of lime wedges, a chimichurri sauce, salad, a heap of mofongo, and bowl contained some type of broth like dip or pouring over sauce. The skirt was also nicely trimmed, totally flavorful and the monfongo, though at first seeming a little dry, of perfect balance and flavor; some of the best I've had. Salt & Pepper has a pleasant seating, a good list of daily specials and a wait staff that is pleasant, helpful and friendly. Overall it's become one of my favorites for Latin types of food.

Was in FL on a business trip and decided to try a new restaurant, so thanks to everyone on yelp I found Salt & Pepper Chef, so thank you all. I was so happy to see Mofongo on the menu, I asked the server what she would recommend and went with that. I had the Mofongo with shrimp in garlic sauce. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! It was so good and was so impressed I even had Deseret which I normally would not. Again, went with whatever they recommend which was the tress leches cake and a Cuban coffee. My only complaint is that they are not located where I live. Great Food, Super nice people, just a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

A few days ago I ordered the ten piece wings on the appetizer menu that listed 10 wings for $7.95. It was my first time and I soon realized my last time ordering with this spot. I received my order in a timely manner. When I opened my to go box there were eight very dry wings in the box. The wings tasted horrible. I had nothing to eat at work. I wasn't ready to tear the lining of my mouth trying to eat these wings. I called the restaurant and unfortunately the woman who answered the phone spoke no English. Someone else got on the phone and explained that their new menu had the correct amount and price for the wings. He offered to makeup the two missing wings on my next order however I am afraid to try anything else here.

We made an impulse decision to come here for lunch on a Friday after our original lunch choice was found to be closed. We arrived around 11:40, and they were very empty, and the staff wasn't really waiting to welcome us...it was a little awkward when we first walked in. We sat down and things got better. I think we came in very close to their opening time and they were still prepping, not necessarily an excuse, but the waitress warmed up to us quickly. The menu was a little bit of a mixed bag with some obviously very Americanized items like onion rings and wraps, and caesar salad, and then some more authentic items you would expect in a dominican/el salvidorian/ puerto rican.cuban restaurant such as mofongo, tostones, and paella. I resisted my urge to order a sandwich (they had a skirt steak sub on the menu) and went with the roasted shredded pork. It came with three sides and I chose rice, beans, and plantains. The meal was delicious! The pork was nicely roasted and was a great mix of moist shredded pieces and crispier pieces as well. The plantains were delicious and the rice had great flavor. The black beans were much thinner than I am used to and were more like a soup with some other veggies mingling in there, but they were great with the rice. As our meal went on the restaurant got busier, and it is obvious that the quality of the food draws a few regulars. I was very impressed with my meal. For $7.99 it was easily two servings and I left stuffed. If you don't want the awkwardness we experienced when we first walked in maybe don't come before noon, but I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Based on how well the pork was cooked I would definitely like to try some of the other meats here. The service was a little slow, though the waitress was accommodating and friendly overall, just come with some time on your hands to enjoy a large meal.

Dominican and El Salvador cooking styles blended for authentic flavors. We had the whole snapper and shrimp with garlic accompanied with sides of yellow rice, beans, and plantains. All cooked just right. Both dishes for $26. Don't go here for ambiance. Friendly staff and good service. Very ample menu which you may view on their website.

The taste of their food is inconsistent. One perfect example is this Pernil. When I used to order it, it was so dry and shredded thinly and just last Friday, when I ordered it again, finally, they got it right! It's a lot meatier, tender and juicy.

After attempting to go to a restaurant for lunch that ended up being closed and moved (should have checked Yelp!) we yelped near by and ended up at Salt & Pepper Chef. When we first walked in, the place was dead (to be honest it did get a little bit more busy by the time we were done) and the atmosphere was a little cold and unwelcoming. Frankly, I was sitting there already writing a bad review in my head, but the food changed all that for me. The service seemed a little slow to check on us, but once we ordered our food, it definitely came out quickly! The menu lists lots of different Spanish items, from Cuban to Mexican to Puerto Rican, and the board also lists some specials. We weren't offered any explanation of the board (maybe they are cheaper priced lunch specials), so I opted to go with the mofongo with ox tail from the menu. Garlic bread was brought to the table to start, and then seemingly only minutes later our meals arrived. My oxtail stew and mofongo also came with a salad and a chicken broth soup. Needless to say I brought home leftovers. Again, the service was slow getting us the check, but they did happily split it, so I'll give them some extra stars for that. Despite something lacking in the atmosphere and service departments, the food was solid!! Really full of flavor and delicious. I may not choose to eat in here again, but I definitely would consider getting take out!

This place is so delicious!! Authentic Caribbean food... Mangu and Monfongo sold all day! They have great options and prices. They have great kids food (nuggets/hamburgers) which are inexpensive, so your kids will be very happy. My son watched teen titans on their TV while we ate great food. I have been searching for Puerto Rican/ Dominican food ever since we moved up to Ft lauderdale and I'm so pleased to say we found a great place to have our kind of food, close to home. This place is quaint and comfy. The service was excellent. And to take it to next level, they serve brown rice and wheat pasta for those of us who are health conscious. A great place all around.

You gotta love family owned restaurants with a homey vibe... Instead of driving all the way to Miami for Latin fare I'll be coming here now! The food is good and the prices reasonable. The mofongo was very good and hearthy! Cafecito on point! Good job!

This was our second time at this family owned restaurant. We had the mofongo shrimp, oxtail mofongo, and chicken caprese. Everything was authentic and seasoned to perfection. The mofongo is wonderful and you should give it a try. Service is a bit slow but once you order, the food comes out quickly and nicely plated. This place is a hidden gem and the prices are cheap enough to feed the whole family. I cannot wait to go back!

I came for lunch/dinner and I had a beef empanada and it was okay. We also ordered fried chicken chunks which comes with 3 sides for only $8.95 so you can't beat that! I will return to give another item on the menu a try.

I was introduced to S & P's Dominican breakfast by a Dominican friend. If she thought it was legit I knew it'd be worth trying. The Mangu with 3 sides (eggs, salami, cheese) is life-changing. The portions are big and the cafe con leche is good as well. The service is always very courteous and quick. This place is a hidden gem. Love it!

Salt & Pepper is a family owned authentic Dominican breakfast, lunch and dinner spot. If you love large portions served hot and in a welcoming manner, I promise you will enjoy your time at Salt & Pepper! The seafood soup is amazing, the fajitas are fresh, and shrimp wrap was top quality, very tasty. The service is excellent, very polite.

This restaurant is under new ownership (formally known as "Latin Conga"). Food is not as good as under previous management - but still OK. Does now have "healthier" options like wraps (though they serve them with french fries). Portion size is good. Taste is good (4/5). Cuban coffee - not as good as under previous management. I recommend they get this right as many patrons on SoFl look to finishing their meals with a nice Cuban coffee or cortadito. Food tends to be on the greasier-side, again this is in comparison to the previous ownership.

First time here. The empanadas were huge, but tasted delicious. Had chicken and beef stew soup that was perfect. The churrasca was more than enough for one person and was amazing. My girls whole snapper was crispy and fluffy at the same time. This place is a must eat here :-)

Excellent food and service. I've been there 3 times and referred people to it. The seafood soup is amazing (marinada). Also have had fajitas, stuffed tostones and shrimp wrap. All top quality, very tasty. I'll keep coming back. The service is excellent, very polite. Love it. There's so much more to try. I'm definitely a fan!

I found this Latin American grill on a coupon site where they had a $25.00 coupon for $2.00. Quite a deal! Dave, Dale and I went by there for a very late lunch one weekday afternoon to try it out. It was about 3:45 pm when we arrived. No wonder the place was empty and the staff was setting up the tables for dinner. We understood the late time and didn't complain about the lack of silverware or condiments on the table. The place was clean and appeared to be family run. The employees were friendly but there was a small lack of communication because of the language barrier. Dale and I ordered unsweetened ice tea to drink and Dave got his usual diet coke. The iced teas came in huge goblets with over sized straws and looked really murky. I thought maybe it was some exotic special Latin iced tea and remarked the same to Dale. He pointed to the cooler in the corner and said, "Snapple." We checked out the menu, made our decisions, and placed our orders. I also asked for sweet-n-low but it didn't arrive before the food was served when I asked for it again. Since I had that great coupon, I thought I would sample their chicken soup. The soup was good. Highly seasoned with large slices of carrots and either potatoes or yucca. My uneducated taste buds couldn't tell. It also had a half of a chicken thigh: bone and all! Dave and Dale got house salads and once the plates were cleared the entrees made their way onto the table. Dave ordered the palomilla steak with black beans and white rice. Dale also had the palomilla but with red beans and white rice. It was quite a gastronomic experience. The food was good although highly seasoned and that might turn off a few people. I think it is authentic Latin food and therefore it might be worth the trip just to try it out. I was a little taken aback to pay $2.95 each for a couple of Snapples but that comes with the territory. The Palomilla dinners were $9.95 each and the Chicken Primavera was $11.95. Actually it was pretty reasonable for the amount of food. With the soup and Dave's diet coke added in with tax and tip the bill totaled $53.36; less my $25.00 coupon netted $28.36. not bad for a lunch for three, inclusive. Salt and Pepper Chef is worth a try. I give it three stars out of five. The coupon made it an enjoyable meal. Let me know what you think.

This place was a disappointment. Went in thinking it was the previous owners. The food was very bland and tasted like Chinese meat. Not all the meat has seasoning on it. The beans tasted like tomato sauce. the meat was over cooked. The over all look of the place is nice but who wants to go to a restaurant to look at a place? The staff were very nice but again the food was horrible.
